Dali is my favorite Surrealist. And probably my favorite visual artist in general. But Foo Swee Chin ( www.fscwasteland.com/) is definately my favorite artist. She's the person who illustrates Nightmares & Fairytales. But I have two of her other comics. I'd have more, but Charlotte doesn't have good comic stores and it's too much of a hassle to buy online for me. Besides, SLG doesn't have all of her work, either, so I'd have to go to Singaporean sites to buy some of her collections/comics/work. Her style has influenced mine more than anything else. I can't say I have any other influence, really. (Aside from myself obviously.)

Oh, shit. Shepard Fairey (of www.obeygiant.com) is also a favorite. FSC has been my favorite for about three years, but I was introduced to Fairey's work about 2 years ago and I love it.

A few other of my favorites are Chris Ware, David McKean, and Ralph Steadman. Oh, David McKean. I hadn't thought of him, his work is pretty interesting. And I think you showed me Ralph Steadman before, if I'm not mistaken. Pretty neat too. Wow. That's great. I mean, simple, but good graffiti is meant to be thought-provoking, I think, and 'julie' seems to know how to do that in a pretty clean way. Graffiti is a really amazing art form, I think. I've been trying to get into it for a while, and I think I'd have a pretty good style for it, but until I can actually drive I don't think I can actually hit the streets and make myself seen. I'm trying to come up with some good sticker designs first, and I'll sticker, since that's a fairly clean way to get the job done. I'll work myself up to stenciling and then actual work with spraypaint.

yeah. ive been trying to get into graffiti myself. i have stencil stuff but i dont know what to stencil. ive been sketching and blah blah for some time now. i just suck really bad. and stickers are amazing. the only thing is they come off. but paint can just be painted over. ah the pain i wanna hit the streets so bad. ive been bothering the mother to let me paint something like a door (for practice). shes been pretty keen on the idea. so woo.

Stenciling is kind of hard for me. Good stencils, at least.
Stickers are still really good, though, because you aren't limited by colors and can really make a great design. And have as many as you need, all the same, and stick them almost anywhere; whereas with stenciling and graffiti, it takes time, they aren't all the same, and you can only do them in certain places.
I'm pretty sure that graffiti is like a serious crime where I live (I should read up on this, though), though [as opposed to a misdemeanor etc]. That's why I'm so hesitant. The most I've done was make handicapped parking stencils and covered a parking lot in a nice part of town with them.
